Filipe Mendes, commonly known as Fil, is a distinguished lawyer and founding partner of Amaral Mendes LLP, a prominent law firm based in Ontario, Canada. With his extensive experience in civil litigation, Fil has represented clients on both sides of the courtroom in a wide array of disputes, including contract disputes, personal injury claims, professional malpractice, property disputes, debt collection, business and employment matters, insurance claims, and more. He has established a specialized expertise in defending claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, as well as claims brought against municipalities, professionals, and property owners/occupiers.

Fil was born and raised in London, Ontario, and showed early promise as an exceptional student. He earned a scholarship to Western University, where he graduated with distinction in 2002, obtaining an Honours B.A. in History. As the top graduating student in the undergraduate history program, Fil was awarded the prestigious W. Donald R. Eldon Scholarship and Robert LaVerne Eagleson Gold Medal. He then pursued his passion for law by attending law school at Western University and graduating in 2005. He was subsequently called to the Bar of Ontario in 2006.

As a dedicated legal professional, Fil is a member of various prestigious legal organizations, including the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, The Advocates' Society, Canadian Defence Lawyers, the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association, the Kitchener-Waterloo Insurance Adjusters Association, and the Waterloo Region Law Association. Apart from his legal pursuits, Fil is fluent in Portuguese, having learned to read, write, and speak the language at home and through his attendance at Portuguese School. He is deeply rooted in his local community and dedicates his time to volunteering for the Reading Buddy program at the Kitchener Public Library. He also serves as the chair of Camp McGovern, a registered charity that provides camping experiences for little brothers, little sisters, foster children, and children from families served by United Way agencies. In his leisure time, Fil enjoys golfing, watching and playing soccer, and mountain biking. He is an ardent supporter of Vitoria Sport Clube from his parents' hometown of Guimaraes, FC Porto, and Chelsea FC. He is also a lifelong fan of the Edmonton Oilers and the San Francisco 49ers.
